Instructor directions are listed below:

  1. Ask students to flip to the Voice and Music Card.

  2. Explain that IoT in the area of voice and music includes all of the smart devices that we use to listen to music, as well as the devices that allow us to talk with them and ask questions.  This includes items such as Bluetooth speakers, headphones, and headsets, networked speakers, smart speakers, sound bars, home theaters, and more.

  3. Ask students if they know of any smart devices that would be part of the voice and music category.

  4. Read the description from the back of the Voice and Music Card: "IoT in the area of Voice and Music includes products that use technology to enhance the multimedia capabilities of a device to wirelessly send or receive  information quickly, without compromising sound quality.  For example, you can connect Bluetooth headphones to your phone to listen to music or make phone calls without compromising sound quality, even if you are a short distance away from your phone."

  5. Share with students a real world example of consumer electronics: Orbi Voice: Wifi Booster and Smart Speaker

For the most part, voice and music tends to be a fairly easy area of IoT for students to understand.  Remind students that devices that use a Bluetooth connection are all part of the internet of things, so if any of them have Bluetooth speakers or headphones, they have a piece of IoT from the area of voice and music.
