Instructor directions are listed below:

  1. Share with students: “Now that you have identified your strengths, interests, and values, imagine how wonderful it would be if you could align those SIVs to your future career.”

  2. Ask students to think about how their SIVs could inform future career choices.

  3. Explain that there is usually not a perfect match of jobs with our SIVs, but when our job or career reflects some of our SIVs, we are likely to be happier in our work.

  4. Share that one way students can explore how to match SIVs to jobs and careers is to learn about all the kinds of jobs and careers that are involved in large companies and checking them against your SIVs.

  5. Explain to students that in this activity, they will be exploring careers in the tech industry, specifically at Qualcomm, and that they might discover careers they didn't know existed.

It is important to give students time to revisit their strengths, interests, and values before they explore the Career Ring, enabling them to connect their SIVs to desired careers.

As with the Unique Talents Activity, we recommend that you do not grade this assignment in terms of how many careers they select.  See the Explore More component for ways to extend this activity into an assignment that could be graded if desired.

View the videos below to see how the Thinkabit Lab team connects their strengths, interests, and values to their careers at Qualcomm.  Feel free to share these with your students.
